What is the first thing you think of when you hear the words Orlando, Florida? I’m going to bet that you probably thought about Disney World or beaches. Am I right? Yeah, I thought so! It should come to a surprise that Orlando is home to a lot more than just theme parks! Orlando. I’ll review the top 10 things you probably didn’t know exist in Orlando. 

 

Orlando Eye

Are you familiar with the London Eye? Yeah, the huge Ferris wheel! Well, Orlando has one as well and it’s actually about 40 feet shorter than the one in London. It opened its doors on April 29th, 2015 and has been a hit ever since! Prices for this attraction vary. Single ride tickets start at $20 for Florida residents and $25 for adults. Before you enter the eye, you will enter a 4D theatre in which you will feel fully emerge in a film that gives you a little bit more information about the Orlando Eye. You definitely don’t want to miss this! From beginning to end, the attractive last a little over 30 minutes. This is a great family event outing!

 

Bok Tower Gardens

Located about 30 minutes from Orlando and 10 miles from Legoland Florida. Most locals consider Bok Tower Gardens as one of Florida’s first attractions and a hidden gem. Voted Florida’s “Best Garden,” the National Historic Landmark was dedicated in 1929 as a gift of gratitude from Edward Bok, a humanitarian, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and world peace advocate. Bok Tower Gardens’ nearly 700 acres of citrus groves, woodland gardens, nature trails, conservation lands and endangered plants are the perfect setting for visitors to explore breathtaking sights throughout the year. TopGolf

Looking to show off your golfing skills? Well, TopGolf is the place to be! Opened in 2017, TopGolf offers Orlando locals and visitor a great environment to tee it high and let it fly. TopGolf isn’t what you think it is. There are 3 floors to this building and around 30 bays on each floor. Players automatically dispense a golf ball and position it strategically on your tee in order to swing and get the golf ball into one of the holes that are positioned 50 to 600 ft away! There are different types of games that you can play and you scoring metric all vary depending on the game rules. Sounds confusing? Don’t worry you bay host will go over everything you need to know before you begin playing!

 

Central Florida Zoo

This 23 acres of native garden lands are home to about 500 animals. You can encounter different types of animals and have close encounters with caretakers that give you more information on the day to day operations of the zoo. The Zoo is located just off I-4, exit 104 on the shores of Lake Monroe. With something for everyone, the adventures are endless!

 

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

Are you looking for an out of this world experience? Ever dreamt of being an astronaut or learning all about space exploration? If you answered yes to any of these questions then the Kennedy Space Center is the place for you! Admission to the Visitor Complex allows you to see space shuttle Atlantis and the Saturn V moon rocket. You will also be able to experience Heroes & Legends — a new immersive attraction that brings the stories of NASA’s pioneering astronauts to life. Located less than an hour from Orlando, the complex opens daily at 9 a.m. with closing times varying by season.
