Starting 2020 on the Right Foot
As 2019 comes to a close, January is a time for new beginnings and growth. Instead of devoting all of your time towards a healthier diet or finding a new hobby, take some time to give your home the TLC it deserves! Here are a few home improvement resolutions to make your space more livable in the new year.
1. Organize and Declutter Your Home
It’s no secret that a newly organized space allows for better physical and mental health. As someone wise once said, a clear space is a clear mind. Clearing your home of clutter will give you the fresh start you know you need. Going room-by-room and donating items and clothing you no longer use or wear is a great start to decluttering and will make you feel good too! Chances are there are other people that would have a lot more use for your items that would otherwise be sitting unused in your home. Once the decluttering is done, invest in organizers such as woven baskets, storage bins, and shelving units that will give all of your stuff a neatly assigned spot in order to prevent mountains of stuff piling up in the future.
2. Lower Your Monthly Bills
Who doesn’t love to save money, am I right? And to make it even better, you’ll be cutting your carbon footprint in the process. Simple things like shutting off the lights when you leave a room, installing LED light bulbs throughout your house, and hanging clothes to dry will all lower your electricity bill a significant amount. Additional steps like turning off your AC when leaving the house and taking shorter showers will also cut costs. These things are small simple tasks that can really make a difference for both your wallet and the environment. Besides, it’s 2020, who doesn’t want to help our planet in any way possible?
